Uniting practitioners across The UK & Éire with Certification and Membership

UKSMDT provides a centralised regulatory body and an up-to-date registry of practitioners across the United Kingdom & Éire.  You can currently study dance and somatics at MA and PhD Level in UK and Éire universities, as well as train on a number of excellent training programmes. Our organisation provides a regulatory body, bridging education and industry. Sign up to  access to our events and training days calendar. Members of the association are invited to attend many of these events at a reduced rate. 

Get Involved

Depending on your previous training, register with us and get a membership 'Somaatic movement Dance Therapist/Specialist' or 'Somatic Movement Dance Specialist'.  We provide advanced training weekends, conferences at a greatly reduced price for members and centralised consent forms about the ethics of touch, COVID  waiver forms, medical history forms, insurance guidance and helpful support from different companies. SMDT acknowledges the unique skills and high level of training somatically informed dancers have undertaken during their careers, often studying somatic awareness at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Our Association

Join our association whether you are training, working independently, or lecturing in Somatics and Dance in Higher Education.  You can join as a student member, an individual, or as an organisation. SMDT is currently financed by MOVINGSOMA
​ www.movingsoma.co.uk - Moving Soma, The Centre for Embodiment and Somatic Movement Education & Therapy and will be developed in support of the professional field in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Due to Covid-19, we have decided after listening to the industry that we will offer all payment routes on a monthly payment option.
​Annual memberships are still your cheapest option to register, but we know many people (especially freelancers) are living month-to-month. We have a route for those living on universal credit.
